We are happy to announce that two of our PhD students have won the Dean’s Dissertation Fellowships this year! Bibaswan Chatterjee won the fellowship for his dissertation topic: “Corruption at Different Levels of Government: What Causes its Incidence and how it Impacts Economic Growth and Social Welfare?” Yiru Wang won the fellowship for her dissertation topic: “Essays on Education and Health in Rural China.” Congratulations to the winners! Good luck to both in completing your work impressively as well.

We are happy to announce the launching of a new STEM master's degree: MS in Econometric and Quantitative Economics. A STEM degree provides important additional benefits to both international and domestic students. International students will be granted a longer OPT timeline through the STEM OPT eligible criteria. Graduate students in the new degree will be eligible to receive outside STEM scholarships and aid, such as those from the NSF.

The information session will take place on Tuesday, February 14 at 5:30pm in Norton 214.

We thank our generous donors for creating these exceptional opportunities for our students. Andrea Niper, who is pursuing a BA in Economics with a minor in Business and World Trade, was awarded the Kogut Brothers Award ($5,000). Stephanie Vail, who is pursuing a BA in Economics with a minor in Statistics, was awarded the William A. Strauss Scholarship ($3,800), and Casey Rotherberg, who is pursuing a BA in Economics with a minor in Chinese, was awarded the Matthew Scarpati Endowed Scholarship ($2,000).

Moon was recently awarded a CAS fellowship to present his paper “Internal structure of consumer cities: core and subcenters” at the 2016 annual conference of the International Transportation Economics Association (ITEA), held this year June 15-17 at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago de Chile, Chile.
