The International Studies major is designed for students who wish to combine cultural competencies, language skills, and regional knowledge to develop a deeper understanding of the world today.
Students are required to study a foreign language through the third year of the curriculum. The major combines introductory surveys of world history and international politics with a focused understanding of the culture, history, religion, social structures, and politics of a particular geographic region: Africa and the Middle East; Asia; Latin America; or Modern Europe.
Study abroad experiences are encouraged. Interested majors may apply for the program’s Study Abroad Award.
