Placement Audition for UB Dance Minors

UB Dance is excited to announce our first-ever placement audition for Dance minors on Sunday, August 24th, from 10:30am-12:30pm in studio B82, Center for the Arts.

This audition is optional for any Dance minor, regardless of their primary major, who wishes to be placed into the Dance major section of a Fall 2025 Level 1 dance course. These courses are listed below for rererence. This placement audition has been created to allow interested Dance minors the chance to place into these courses based on their experience and training.

Level 1 Dance courses for Fall 2025:
DAC 201 – Modern 1
DAC 213 – Ballet 1
DAC 263 – Jazz 1

If you are not interested in attending this placement audition, you may still register for Open-level dance courses without auditioning.

The audition will include combinations/phrases in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz, similar to program auditions for prospective Dance majors. Phrases will be taught by Dance faculty. Students can be placed into the Dance major section of all three technique courses, or just one or two, depending on their strengths. For instance, a student with extensive ballet training but limited modern or jazz experience might be placed into DAC 213 with Dance majors but not into major sections of modern or jazz.

If you would like to attend this audition, registration is required. Please fill out the brief form at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScoqO1So7MJuYK6R-MgW7VT3IYMe7Mtpe2tORa1bszOKpEGFg/viewform?usp=preview

Please note that this is the first time we have held a placement audition, and the structure may be adjusted in future semesters. If you wish to be considered for a double major in Dance (BA), further registration materials are required. Please reach out to Michael Deeb Weaver at: mpdeeb@buffalo.edu for more information.
