BFA in Theatre: Performance Audition Registration

UB Theatre and Dance is committed to providing you with a full audition experience while keeping you safe. 2021 Theatre Performance auditions will be held in person and by video submission, per below, and on a rolling basis throughout the year. Apply early.

Please review the audition requirements below and submit the required materials for consideration of admission to this program.

ON CAMPUS AUDITIONS:

Saturday, October 14, 2023 @ 9am - 2pm
(Location: University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, North Campus)

Saturday, November 11, 2023 @ 9am - 2pm
(Location: University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, North Campus)

Saturday, February 17, 2024 @ 9am - 2pm
(Location: University at Buffalo Center for the Arts, North Campus)

All Theatre Performance auditions are offered in-person at the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts (North Campus).

VIDEO SUBMISSION OPTIONS:

If unable to attend auditions in person, video submissions may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact Professor Michael Deeb Weaver at mpdeeb@buffalo.edu for consideration.

Required Materials

  • Supplementary Documents: 
    • Resume including Production/Performance experience and Training History
    • One reference letter that includes contact information
    • Career Goal Statement (approximately one page)
    • Headshot: 3” x 5” or larger 
    • Audition Fee: $30*

    *Prospective students who receive a fee waiver for the university application process are exempt from this charge.

Acting Audition Preparation

  • Acting Audition: 
    • Prepare two age-appropriate contrasting monologues from contemporary plays
    • Not to exceed 2 minutes, each 
    • Begin each monologue with Your Name, Play Title, Author, Character.
  • Free Choice Special Skill:
    • Should be no more than 60 seconds.
    • The Free Choice can be anything: a special skill, a song, a form of dance, a musical instrument, clown, juggling, circus skills, mime, impersonations, dialects, surprise us!, etc. 
    • The choice serves as an opportunity to demonstrate another talent or passion that communicates to us the applicant as a person and an artist.

  • Pay your Audition Fee of $30 through the “PAY NOW” button.*
  • You will receive a confirmation letter once your payment is received. This will reserve your audition spot.
  • Please submit payment prior to audition date to allow for confirmation packet, including parking pass, to be mailed.

Once you’ve completed your Theatre Performance Audition Form, please use the Pay Now link to submit payment of your $30 Audition Fee.*

A confirmation email will be sent AFTER your fee is received.
