Minor in Dance

About

The dance minor provides students with the opportunity to continue studies in dance, or to explore anew, at a collegiate level. The dance minor is a secondary field of study and offers students a means to complement their major, explore a subspeciality, and/or broaden career alternatives.

Dance minors can tailor their coursework to their area of interest in dance technique among the styles of Ballet, Modern or Jazz. Technique courses must be taken in sequence as the course content builds on previous courses. Dance minor course requirements reflect three areas of inquiry: Diversified Technique Methodologies, Creative Practice, and Cultural and Historic Perspectives. Dance minors can take advantage of performance opportunities as well as design and production work alongside our majors. A minor in dance is an excellent way for students to complement their major study with essential skills of writing, technology, presentation, and critical thinking vital to professional success in the 21st century.

Students interested in pursuing a Minor in Dance at UB must be a matriculated UB Undergraduate student.
