There are several awards available in recognition of the outstanding academic, professional and service work that students do in Global Gender and Sexuality Studies. Awards are available for undergraduate and graduate students.

The Syllabus Award is given to a continuing graduate student for a syllabus designed and taught in the department. It is awarded based on pedagogical formalities and innovation, grounding in gender studies, and overall development in assignments supporting learning outcomes.

Deanna Buley and Kaylee Kagiavas (GGS PhD) were named Social Impact Fellows for summer 2021, a partnership between the School of Management, School of Social Work, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Jessica Lowell Mason (GGS PhD) received The Herstory Coalition for Community Writing Graduate Fellowship: Teaching for Justice and Peace, a partnership between the Herstory Writers Workshop, the Coalition on Community Writing, and the Humanities Institute at Stony Brook University.
2019-2020:
Mosammet Asma (GGS BA), along with the UB Muslim Student Association (MSA), received the 1st place award in the Social Justice Competition at the NY MSA 2020 Showdown.
Gabriella Nassif (GGS PhD) has received a Dissertation Fellowship for 2020-2021 from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to support her study of migrant domestic workers in Lebanon. With this fellowship, Gabriella will be able to focus on her research and writing full-time.
Yuyun Sriwahyuni (GGS PhD) received a Dikti Fulbright award from Indonesia to support her doctoral studies at UB.
