Beyond the Classroom

The University at Buffalo encourages every student to seek learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Whether by partnering with a faculty member on a research project, interning with a local or national organization, making an impact in the Buffalo community, or taking your education overseas, the initiative to go above and beyond will open doors to a multitude of worthwhile experiences.

Study Abroad

Today's students recognize the value and benefits of meaningful international experience as part of their UB education. Study Abroad at UB offers a world of opportunities (literally!) for learning and personal development.

Find an Internship

Internships are one of the most direct ways for students to explore future employment opportunities. Get resume experience while making connections and discovering a career that you love. See available internship possibilities through UB's Career Services Office.

Conduct Research

The Office for Undergraduate Reserach gives undergraduate students the opportunity to dive deep into a subject of interest with distinguished faculty guiding their way.

Get Involved with the Community

UB promotes many forms of community involvement. From alternative break sessions to ALANA (African, Latinx, Asian, and Native American) community events  to "Social Change Saturday," these unique community-oriented activities help others while building essential communication and leadership skills.

Learn More About Experiential Learning

Experiential learning is an important way to turn classroom concepts into practical tools. Service learning and so many other resources specifically for students in the College of Arts and Sciences. We want you to leave UB as a problem-solver, a critical thinker and someone ready to take on whatever comes next.

Student Voices

The department is small enough for finding mentorship, but big enough for consistent learning.
