Strengthen your degree with global communication skills

The Minor in French allows students to build language proficiency while exploring the cultures, histories and ideas of the French-speaking world. Through language study and cultural analysis, students develop communication skills and global awareness that strengthen many academic fields. Whether paired with studies in business, engineering, political science, health sciences or the arts, French adds practical communication abilities and cultural insight to your degree.

Why add a French minor?

French is spoken across multiple continents and remains a major language of diplomacy, international organizations and global culture. Adding French to your degree strengthens your ability to communicate across cultures and prepares you for careers in increasingly global environments.

Students pursue the French minor because it offers:

  • Language skills that are valuable in many professional fields
  • Cultural knowledge that strengthens global understanding
  • Small, interactive classes that support language development
  • Flexibility to complement almost any major

French is especially valuable for students interested in international relations, education, global health, business, law and cultural work.
