The study of earth sciences challenges students to think both spatially and creatively. In the Department of Earth Sciences, our undergraduates grow into inquisitive problem solvers who are passionate about the earth and addressing some of the most pressing issues of our time: climate change, resource management and natural disasters.
Our department’s experiential learning opportunities provide students with the chance to deepen their understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
An understanding of the earth and environmental issues has never been more vitally important. With the proliferation of challenges in energy, natural resources and environmental health, excellent job opportunities are predicted for geoscientists. An education in earth sciences can also be an asset in such fields as environmental law, politics or education.
