Step 1: Apply to the University at Buffalo

Incoming freshman or undergraduate transfer applicants who are interested in pursuing economics study must first apply and be accepted to the University at Buffalo. All relevant information, including admissions criteria, the online application, dates and deadlines, and standardized test score requirements, can be found by visiting UB Undergraduate Admissions.

Step 2: Apply to the Department of Economics

Major/Joint Major/Minor Combined BA/MA Combined BA/MS

Any student considering a Major, Joint Major or Minor in Economics should speak with the undergraduate adviser to obtain up-to-date information about requirements.

Transfer Policy

Transfer credits may be given toward required courses for both BA and BS degrees, and “any-level” Economics electives for BA degree.

Students who wish to obtain transfer credits for courses taken at another university or college must apply through UB’s TAURUS system.  You must provide an informative course description or syllabus for each course and make an articulation request at Capen 1.

Please note: Students changing to a joint major must also apply to and be accepted by the other department.
