Honors Program in Economics

For B.A. degree students, we nominate students who completed (1) MTH 141, (2) MTH 142, (3) ECO 406, and (4) whose cumulative GPA in economics courses is at least 3.25. 

For B.S. degree students, we nominate students who completed (1) MTH 141, (2) MTH 142, (3) ECO 498 or 499 with a recommendation letter, and (4) whose cumulative GPA in economics courses of at least 3.25.

If students' cumulative GPA in economics courses are at least 3.25, then they are nominated for Honors; if it is at least 3.50 they are nominated for High Honors; and if it is at least 3.75, they are nominated for Highest Honors.

Honors Classes

Honors classes are indicated by an “H” as the section. To be eligible to take Honors classes, a student must present at least a 3.0 GPA in Economics and overall. In order to register for the classes, students must request and receive permission from Professor Mclaughlin, director of undergraduate studies. 

Omicron Delta Epsilon

Students who maintain a GPA of 3.0 in their economics courses and overall, and who have taken at least 12 credits of economics, are eligible for membership in Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honors society in economics.
