Nature and Nurture

The young artists of our region are inspired and well-instructed by incredible local artists who have dedicated their time and creative energies to education. We would like to honor and celebrate these Western New York (mainly high school) art teachers, and the work they are creating for their own purposes, as showcased in Nature and Nurture.

This exhibition is complementing our annual Western New York High School Student Art Exhibition, which will continue in 2025. The styles and skills of these educators have ripple effects on the development of young artists emerging in the Western New York Region. Some of those pupils go on to study advanced artmaking and theory, at the University at Buffalo and other institutions of higher learning, and others embody creative skills in their daily lives and diverse career pursuits. In a multitude of ways, the artistry of the educators informs and molds their students.

Thank you to the Western New York Art Teachers, for providing platforms for young artists to be nurtured in their creativity, and hosting opportunities for their natural and learned abilities to grow and flourish.
