Exhibition Statement:

In my art I aim to explore girl/womanhood through the lenses of lived experiences as well as the stories told to me by the women I’ve met throughout my life. These experiences and stories shaped me as a person, as a woman, and often changed my way of thinking. For this independent study my goal was to merge my printmaking and oil painting practices to create an exhibition that explores various facets of life as a girl and as a woman. The works in the Girl World exhibition will deal with topics of sexuality, stigma, societal expectations, and menstruation.

The Artist:

Sophia Litterio, a Senior B.A. in Studio Art student, who has created this work through a Printmaking Independent Study under the mentorship of Jeff Sherven.
