The Minor in Global Affairs offers students a broad and enriching exploration of a dynamic and diverse field.  Students interested in international relations, international development, human rights, international conflict, international law, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, public affairs, government service and/or graduate school obtain a solid background with the courses offered. The minor in Global Affairs allows students flexibility in designing a curriculum to meet individual needs.

Minor Requirements

To complete the Minor in Global Affairs, students must earn 21 credit hours through the following courses:

  • Introductory Courses (6 credits):
    • PSC 102 Introduction to International Politics
    • PSC 103 Introduction to Comprative Politics
  • Methods of Inquiry course (3-4 credits): 
    • Choose from among the following:
      • PSC 200 Empirical Political Science
      • PSC 393 Game Theory and Politics
      • PSC 408 Basic Statistics for Social Science
      • An approve substitute (SOC 294, ECO 480, PSY 207, STA 119, SSC 225, MCQ 301, or GEO 211)
  • Three upper division 300/400 PSC courses (9 credits) from at least two of the following topic areas:
    • International Relations or Comparative Politics
    • Global Areas
    • Conflict, Political, or Social Dynamics
    • International Law, International Organizations, or International Communication
    • International or Comparative Political Economy
  • At least one additional PSC course (3 credits)
