Teaching Philosophy

As an instructor at a university I believe it is my responsibility to provide students with the skills and the knowledge to solve problems and to think analytically. I would not only like to be a coach in learning the material but would like to engage and entertain my students. From my own experience as a student, I have noticed that my level of intrigue with a subject was almost always proportional to my teachers’ level of excitement and enthusiasm for the subject. Ideally my students would leave the course with knowledge of chemistry but also importantly, lifelong skills such as problem solving, logical thinking, and independent learning.

I live in Buffalo with my wife, who is a chemistry professor at D’Youville College and my two kids, daughter Ryan and son Clark. Our time is consumed with watching our kids grow, learn and explore. The remainder of our time is spent exploring Buffalo and spending time with family and friends.
