Meet our Economics major students and the department's current College Ambassador. College Ambassadors are outstanding students nominated by their department to represent the department at campus and community events.
I decided to study economics at UB because I have long been fascinated with financial markets; business and investing; as well as the international and domestic economy. The study of economics is not just limited to matters of money and materialism, but at its core, it is the study of human psychology with respect to decision making and the allocation of finite resources. I intend to understand and answer the causes by which people suffer due to financial reasons.

I really like Econometrics because of how analytical and grounded it is. I can sometimes feel a bit lost in theory classes, but Econometrics is a very applied class and also helped me learn a lot about research in Economics. In class, we learned about different research models and how to use them to approach different problems, which was really interesting!
The Department of Economics has a long-standing commitment to diversity. We welcome students from near and far, and believe that our programs are strengthened by a wide variety of experiences, cultures and educational goals.
