Notable Recent Achievements

  • First-author publication: Lizardo, D.Y.L.; Lin, Y.; Gokcumen, O.; Atilla-Gokcumen, G.E.; Regulation of lipids is central to replicative senescence.  Molecular BioSystems, 2017, DOI: 10.1039/C6MB00842A

Research Highlight

"My research focuses on the functional involvement of lipids in different cellular processes, including senescence, using global LC-MS-based lipidomics. In this study, the lipid profiles of proliferating and replicative senescent fibroblast cells were investigated and we found that regulation of lipids at the molecular level was central to replicative senescence.

I enjoy being a graduate student at UB because I have access to a variety of state-of-the-art instrumentation and am surrounded by smart, friendly and supportive faculty. Buffalo is also a great city!

Outside the lab I enjoy food, traveling, hiking, music/movies and spending time with family and friends."

Congratulations, Darleny!
