Research Highlight

"My research focuses on understanding the roles of specific lipids during necroptosis, a unique type of programmed cell death which has been associated with pathologies including neurodegenerative diseases, ischaemia-reperfusion injuries, and cancer. I am currently investigating how very long chain fatty acids facilitate necroptosis using structure-specific “clickable” fatty acid probes.

I like being a graduate student in the Chemistry department here at UB because there is a great sense of community; everyone is really friendly, and I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to expand my research through collaborations.

Outside of the lab, I like to try new foods and spend time relaxing with my cat, Kiki."

Congratulations, Laura!
