Biography

Aaron Siegel is a PhD student in the History Department, through which he received his Master's degree last spring.  Aaron received his undergraduate degree in Political Science at UB in '97 and his MBA from the Simon School at the University of Rochester in 2003.  His professional career has been in banking and finance, and his company is involved in real estate development across WNY.

Aaron's academic concentration is urban history, and he is particularly interested in urban unrest as it relates to racial inequities.  His Master's thesis told the story of the Buffalo race rebellion of 1967, and his anticipated doctoral dissertation will be a comparative history involving the Buffalo rebellion and that of Rochester's in 1964.

Aaron is a Buffalo native whose career took him away from home for a decade, but he moved back just in time for the Buffalo renaissance.  Aaron lives in North Buffalo, is active in a number of local organizations, plays the trumpet terribly, and has an ancient terrier who is deaf.
