BA History, SUNY at Buffalo
Ashley received her Bachelor's in History from the University at Buffalo in 2010. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the department's Outstanding Senior Award. After a number of years working as an auditor and compliance analyst for an insurance firm, she moved to teaching English as a second language part time while staying at home with her daughter. After falling in love with teaching and spending a few years teaching at local middle and high schools, Ashley decided to come back to UB to pursue a PhD in History. Her research interests include medicine and disability in early modern France and its Atlantic colonies. Her paper, "Brave Acts: Transmigration and Suicide in the Early Modern Atlantic World," has been selected for inclusion as a chapter in the forthcoming book New Perspectives in Africana Studies Volume 1.
