Biography

I was born and raised in the fuzzy borderlands between what locals call Western New York and the Genesee Valley. This wild frontier, full of cabbage and corn fields, was fertile ground for my early interest in history. I ignored that interest, though, and sought employment as a warehouse worker. After a fifteen year career in warehousing, I quit it all and went back to school. My historical interests are informed by my subsequent education in horticulture, biogeography, agronomy, and history. I hope to approach Native American and Indigenous History through a multidisciplinary framework and find narratives in the soil. My research focus is the impact of environmental changes on Native American nations caused by the early North American fur trade. This may change, of course, but that's the current plan.
